MoneyTime Financial Literacy Program Review I Hill Country Homestead

MoneyTime Financial Literacy Program Review I Hill Country Homestead

I was compensated for my time and all opinions are honest. I was not required to post a positive review.

Financial literacy has always been a struggle for me as a teenager and even now as an adult. Teaching my kids about money is important and supplementing with a great online program is the best way I can ensure they are getting a comprehensive look at all there is to learn about money management. I signed the older two children up to use Money Time and found that it was an effective way to educate them on real-life applications in how to spend, save, and invest in real life through virtual reality. We are currently using the family subscription online package and can see several benefits from the program already.

Using Money Time

Money Time offers family subscription packages and works hand in hand with homeschooler groups large and small. When logging on to Money Time it allows you to register up to five students and it was really easy for us to rotate each user through the program during their specific time slot. The online financial literacy program is designed to walk kids through real life long term situations and challenge them to work, spend, save, and invest throughout their virtual life within the course. To me, it was very similar to and online video game, fabricating a job title, annual income, and expenses and then walking the student through different scenarios where they must make financial choices based on their situation.

Benefits of Using Money Time

Students are challenged with questions and rewarded with “income” for correct answers regarding financial literacy. Walking the student through real-life financial problems in search of the solution online first is a great way to start money education and form a positive attitude toward the subject of saving, and spending. Practicing the exercises within this online curriculum exposed the kids to scenarios that come up in real life and gives them practice in the realms of spending, saving, and investing before they encounter these situations in real life. I love that they can experience these things virtually first and practice their responses and I feel confident it will reduce many of the struggles that I had to face learning the hard way about money growing up.

Money Time Review Conclusion

Personal finance is a subject that is often overlooked when it comes to educating pre-teen and teenage children and yet it is one of the most important skills to have when navigating life. It makes me feel good knowing they have an online course they can fail and succeed with before they encounter financial situations in the real world. Delayed gratification and being financially prepared for the future are two very important things to teach my children on their education journey. They are learning these things with Money Time and they often lose track of time when they log on to the website and end up completing more modules than I asked of them so I know they are enjoying their financial literacy assignments! That's great news for their financial future!
